BODY MASSAGE

Ayurvedic massage is known as abhyanga.The word ‘abhyanga’ is composed of two Sanskrit words, abhi and anga. Abhi means ‘towards’ and anga, in one of its meanings, refers to ‘movement’.Abhyanga is a synchronized massaging of the body towards the direction of the movement of arterial blood.In practical terms it means massaging the body in the direction of the body hair.The scientific reason for this protocol may be to increase the blood flow towards the most distal parts of the body and avoid overwhelming the heart through increased venous return if the massage is done towards the heart,or in other words, in the direction opposite to that of the body hair.Abhyanga not only prepares the body for panchakarma, but also helps to mobilize the dosha from the periphery toward the core in order to get them eliminated through the body orifices. The Vata dosha is particularly pacified by Abhyanga but even Pitta and Kapha can be pacified using different massage mediums like ghee and herbal powders respectively.Warm oil is the best solution for Vata which is overseeing vitality for solid body and psyche, Abhyanga oil kneads starts profound recuperating inside cells.

PIZHICHIL

Pizhichil Treatment in Ayurveda, is a combination of oil massage and heat treatment. This therapy was mostly used by Maharajas in the olden days, and popularly known as treatment for aristocrats.A gentle, synchronized massage of up and down is carried out on all parts of the body other than the head are subjected to this treatment. The patient should lay on the treatment table and two to four trained therapists perform the massage under the supervision of a physician. It is administered in seven standard positions, so that no area of the body is left uncovered.Here, cloth dipped in lukewarm medicated oil is squeezed over the patient’s body uniformly and then the oil rubbed smoothly over the body of the patient by masseurs on either side. The session may take 1 hour including continuous oil pouring over the body, then rubbing and stimulating the skin using hands and special cotton cloths. Special caution has to be taken for the patient’s head should not get sweat during the treatment. A cloth is tied over the forehead of the therapy taker to prevent oil from getting into the eyes.This is a highly rejuvenating treatment.

NASYAM

Nasyam is very effective Ayurveda remedy and it ensures relaxation for head related problems especially for many type of headaches. The illness in the head region would get much relax after Nasyam. Nostrills are the entry point of Nasyam treatment and it’s the door way to brain where Nasyam treatment applies.Nasyam is a very important treatment especially for the illness in the head region.Through the nostrils the medicated oil and powder are applies and this process is called Nasyam. There are many type of Nasyams in Ayuirveda. Nasyam is a toxin removing process and it’s very helpful to get relax for head related problems. Nasyam gives immune power in the head region. The mucas membrane of nasal cavity gets stimulation through Nasyam. It guarantees fruitful relax to all aspirants. The illness in the head region is prominent part of Nasyam treatment. The importance of Nasyam is much relevant in this modern era, because everywhere we’ll find the diseases with problems in head. The patient gets relaxation after Nasyam especially with toxin removing from head,neck,brain,ear and throat. Nasyam is a very special treatment especially designed for head related illness.

KIZHI

Kizhi Ayurveda treatment is a type of massage performed using small satchels containing herbal powders, herbs, rice or sand. Depending upon the type of material used, kizhi is classified as, PodiKizhi that uses dry powdered herbs, ElaKizhithat uses raw herbs mainly leaves and roots, NavaraKizhi that uses special Navara Rice and ManalKizhi that uses sand particles.The term Kizhi means “Bundle” in malayalam. Kizhi( Potali massage) is a massage therapy mainly aims to enhance and protect the health and wellness of the whole body and purifies and rejuvenate the body, mind and soul.Kizhi Ayurveda Treatment mainly provides heat for aggravated vata and vata kapha conditions. Aches and pains associated with joints and muscular skelton are caused by aggravation of vata. The heat generated in kizhi help to pacify the aggravated vata thus reliving the associated pain immediately more over the enhanced blood supply due to hot fomentation helps to recover from muscular pain. HERBAL STEAM BATH

The term 'swedana' is used in Ayurvedic medicine to describe treatments which involve sweating. In Ayurveda Swedana is used to relieve excess doshas from the body, establishing a state of balance which promotes general health.The Word Swedana is derived from the Sanskrit word Swid, which means 'to sweat". According to the principles of Ayurveda, sweating releases toxins from the body, promoting general health. Sweating can also be used to create dosha or body type imbalances, especially when combined with herbs with target specific doshas. In order for a swedana treatment to be effective, the practitioner must first assess the patient's dosha type to determine the best mixture of herbs.The steam treatment is carried out in conjunction with an oil massage to maximize the benefits. The oil is selected according to the patient's body type by requirement of the doctors. The oil will seep into body during a 40 minute or 100 minute body massage prior to the steam treatment. The patient is then placed in Ayurvedic steam bath, into which is piped steam generated using a mixture of water and other herbs.

SIRODHARA

Shirodhara is an amazing, unique body therapy from the ancient natural medical system Ayurveda. Shirodhara has a profound impact on the nervous system. That means, the treatment directly and immediately calms, relaxes and has a cleansing effect on the mind and nerves.Shirodhara (Shiro – Head, Dhara – Flow) is considered as the most divine of all Ayurvedic therapies. In this wonderful relaxation process, the scalp and forehead is caressed with a thin stream of medicated lukewarm oil. Shirodhara is extremely relaxing, rejuvenating and enhances the functioning of the central nervous system. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions including eye diseases, sinusitis, and memory loss. In this treatment lukewarm herbal oils poured on forehead from an earthen pot in a special manner. This is good for migraine, insomnia and also keeps head cool.This treatment has a profound impact on the nervous system.It has a cleaning effetct on mind and making you feel good and relaxed.Shirodhara purifies the mind, alleviates anxiety, reduces headaches, and expands awareness. Shirodhara can be administered on its own or as part of a panchakarma detoxification regime.
